Wrinkles look good on your favorite crushed scarf, those luscious strawberries or on that cute little pug. The last place we expect to see a wrinkle is on our own skin; especially the most precious facial skin. Years of frowning, brow-raising and neglecting sunscreen would have left these fine lines of wisdom on our forehead. A constant effort to defy age and look younger is underway in all of us. You can get to the root of your problem or resort to external make-up to zap away forehead wrinkles. Given below are some skincare tips to slow down both external and internal aging process if not stopping it altogether.

1.     Eat Healthy

What you eat is shown in your body and skin. Healthy food stuffs like salmon, soy, fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants, omega-3 and proteins which make great skin food. Premature deep wrinkles on the skin could indicate a severe Nutritional Deficiency. This is a good enough reason to conclude that ignoring the value of nutrition can contribute to forehead wrinkles formation. Inculcate nutritious food into your diet and provide your skin the privilege of getting nourished from within.

2.     Keep Yourself Hydrated Inside Out

Research shows 75% of the population in the United States suffers from dehydration. Dehydration causes severe skin problems that includes but is not limited to dry skin and wrinkles. Over time, certain facial expressions can cause wrinkles; a loss of moisture and elasticity with age advancement makes them more prominent. Replace fancy beverages with plain water; when your skin is well hydrated, moisture enlivens dry saggy skin leading to wrinkles plumping up thereby becoming less noticeable.

3.     Practice Yoga

Face yoga is a system of stretching and working face muscles which is an ultimate natural facelift. These facial exercises can help to tone the forehead muscles and reduce even deep wrinkles over time. Regular facial exercises can help in smoothing those puckered lines on your forehead.

4.     Avoid Frowning

Extreme facial expressions become inevitable at times. But bear in mind that over a period of time, these expressions leave lasting impressions on your precious face; when you frown, the area around the eyes, the forehead and the area between the brows are the worst hit. Be conscious of your face and smile; this relaxes facial muscle.

5.     Invest On Products That Actually Work For Your Skin

There is an array of products stacked all along the aisles of skin care regimen all claiming to remove wrinkles to give you a younger look. Somewhere among these simple moisturizing creams and magical serum potions, there are products that are made just for your skin. 6.     Avoid the Sun

Sun exposure breaks down collagen elastic fibers in the skin causing wrinkling and sagging. The more sun exposure you have, the more wrinkles you’re likely to get irrespective of your age. To prevent wrinkles, use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Seek the shade and avoid peak hour sun rays – a Primary Factor Contributing to Forehead Wrinkles.

7.     Facilitate Collagen Production

Collagen is a protein produced by our cells that holds the skin together by giving it firmness and elasticity which helps to retain youthful looks. With age advancement, the rate of collagen production slows down leading to wrinkles and sagging skin. Quit smoking, alcohol; avoid sun & pollution to encourage collagen production. Including an antioxidant rich diet and regular exercises also have proved to promote collagen production.

8.     Check for Vision Correction and Cut-Down on the Sweet Stuff

Involuntary contractions of the forehead muscles could indicate vision problems that need to be addressed in order to reduce further formation of creases on the forehead. Cut down on sugar as too much sugar causes premature ageing of the skin through a process called glycation. This accelerates the ageing process leading to wrinkly skin.

9.     Massage Your Forehead

Massage your forehead with extra virgin olive oil or any moisturizing cream in a downward to upward movement. This increases the blood circulation in the area massaged and effectively hydrates your skin.  A gentle massage with the tips of your fingers will further provide a soothing effect on the forehead.

10.         Snooze Away Your Wrinkles

A good night’s sleep is rightly referred to as the beauty sleep since collagen producing cells are rejuvenated during a deep slumber. Undisturbed sleep for 6 to 7 hours every night has the ability to repair an entire day’s damage to the skin. Following a simple skin hygiene regimen can enhance the benefits derived from a blissful night’s sleep.

when i have major acne breakout on the forehead, it’s usually due to extreme stress and lack of sleep >< however, i have been getting quite enough sleep lately and exercises really help to keep stress level low. major help would be the fish oil that i have been taking, only one or two pop up even during time of the month!
